The Variance Menu provides four different variance report options.  The Manage Variance tool is used to manage the format of the data that is displayed on all four reports.  The format of the report is that Actual data is compared to Budgeted data for the specified period. 


The reporting format can differ by year.



From the dropdown menus:

1) Select the CompanyDB that you wish to report on;

2) Select the Year;

3) Select Current Year data you wish to report on;

4) Select the Comparative Budget you would like to compare the Current Year against;

5) Select the Variance calculation option:

I) A-B which means that the variance will be calculated by subtracting the selected Comparative Budget numbers from the selected Current Year numbers; or

II) B-A which means that the variance will be calculated by subtracting the numbers for the selected Current Year from the selected Comparative Budget.

6) Select the display option for the listed data elements:

I) "Show" will display the related data element/s on the report; or

II) "Hide" will result in the related data elements/ not been displayed on the report.

Please note that all data elements expect, as highlighted in yellow for the Actnum, Actdescr, and Current Month columns, can be hidden and therefore not display on the report.


7) To display Notes, check the "Notes" box.


8) When the above steps are complete, click the "Save Variances Config" button to save your work.

Before running reports, please exit Dynamic Budgets to complete the configuration setting.


Below is an example of a setup comparing the 2015 Actuals to the FY15 Budget.



A Monthly Bud v Act Variance Analysis report was run using the above setup.  Please note it demonstrates how only the "Show" data selections are displayed and Quarter and Year To Date do not display.
